Revisiting some of my favorite images, spaces, items, and posts of the past year–one month at a time (no, you didn’t miss two months, I did; I was AWOL during July & August, back in September).

Superstylish
Dark floors, painted brick, sleek minimal pieces, tons of glass. Very attractive.

Flue Season
Covering this exposed-brick fireplace in cor-ten steel and painting the flue blue bring a terrific industrial touch to this space.

Mr. Mix
Great room interior design ideas can come from anywhere. Take The Iron Horse Hotel, for instance: terrific everything in this hotel room and its entry-slash-bar space. The use of floor tile extending up the wall in the entry is so smart–I can imagine how easy that is to clean, can’t you? And the mix of sleek leather in the office chair, patterned upholstery in the arm chair, and what looks like cowhide on the bed-foot bench makes for great variety–both visually and texturally. I’m not exactly sure if you need to bring your own motorgear, such as the jackets, helmets and boots above, or if they are standard amenities.
